event: Earthday Circle singing

Come celebrate Earth Day (on April 23rd) by singing and raising $ for an incredible community farm. Originally this event was organized as a fundraiser for We The People Farm. Upon learning of Melvin's passing - we realize it will also be something more than that - we will sing also to honor the memory of a man who understood the meaning of community, the power of the land to heal & the generosity of taking action.

Mark your calendar - we'll sing for Melvin and practice the art of improvisational circle singing, the kind inspired by Bobby McFerrin. It's magic and if you haven't tried it, please come to this very safe place to experience it!

What is circle singing? You'll be invited to be a part of a kind of choir - only the parts are going to be made up on the spot, as spirit moves through and we let music come to us.  Alternating “conductors” will jump in to give out improvised ‘parts’ that harmonize and groove together to create brand new songs and jams! Anyone who feels inspired can take a solo, or volunteer to conduct a song! No pressure, though - just come join the circle!

We The People Farm’s mission is to provide meaningful work, mentorship, and a supportive community to formally incarcerated individuals.

Suggested donation: $5 - $20. more if you can, less if you can’t!
