FOR THE LOVE OF SINGING

Why does singing feel so good? Well, first of all, singing is literally healing! It stimulates healthy brain cells, lowers blood pressure, promotes deep breathing, boosts the immune system & decreases cortisol, it activates oxytocin... and more!

But I believe, too, that our voice is a portal. It’s a channel to the deepest part of ourselves, and all our longing and vulnerability, our desire for intimacy and connection.  When we sing and sound, we dissolve borders and interpenetrate cells through vibration. Singing with another person or in a group is… intimate, tender and enlivening.

I am happiest when I'm singing, and it’s my life’s joy to share this practice with all those who long to use their voice.

VOICE AS A PATHWAY TO PRESENCE & PLEASURE

For years, I trained in conservatory-style vocal technique. But equally important are the years training in meditation/inquiry, contemplative movement and the sacred art of improvisational play. (See bio)

I have come to believe that to engage with one’s voice and inner music is a spiritual endeavor, most of all.

We are finding our way home to the heart’s true desire - to the realization of our own sound and of sound itself. We become devotees of beauty and the possibility that WE ARE that which we are seeking. We reclaim our breath and our power— to speak up and cry out. We succumb to the sweet nectar of play.

The world needs our voices right now - your voice, my voice, our voices. This is a reclamation - of joy, of confidence, of courage, of collaboration.

…together we are like a song, that the birds have learned to sing, a song that lets the light shine in…
