sept 13th workshop: journey into circle singing

Attention all people who long to let their voice free in spontaneous composition, harmony and play.

Beth Patterson & I are going to be near Grand Rapids - at a very wonderful epicenter for healing arts, sacred sound & contemplative practice called The Vital Hive.

This Sunday workshop is a gentle but generous foray into the art & play of circle singing, an ancient practice that was developed by American master vocalist and composer Bobby McFerrin over a career of groundbreaking vocal exploration.

If you are improv-curious or even experienced, this is a chance to take an afternoon deep dive into the vast capacities of the voice, not just as a vehicle for melody but for prayer, silence, invented language and new harmonic and rhythmic landscapes. And meet some wonderful new friends.

We are hosted by Nic Despres a beautiful song leader & practitioner on sweet land. The workshop will be followed by a communal hot tub, sauna & potluck if you are so inclined!

No previous singing or improvisation experience is necessary—only a willingness to listen, experiment, and be surprised by your own voice.
